Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) supplementation substantially prolongs lifespan and suppresses senescence — an age-related, dysfunctional cellular state — in the fat tissue of mice.

EGCG supplementation over 18 months increases median lifespan by ~25% and significantly lowers fat tissue senescence in mice.

Fish lacking an enzyme critical for maintaining telomere length, telomerase, had severe aging and a shortened lifespan, whereas persistent activation of telomerase in the gut of healthy zebrafish had only small improvements in their healthspan.
