New Study Suggests Combining Senolytics with Blood Pressure Medication Counteracts an Aging Gut

Carvedilol, a blood pressure medication, and the senolytic agent ABT-263 both attenuate cellular senescence—an age-related, dysfunctional cellular state—driven by a gut bacterial metabolite in mice.

Aside from diet and exercise, senolytics — compounds that remove age-promoting cells — may rejuvenate the immune system and reduce the risk of neurodegeneration and dementia.
